Description: 

The All-Russian Society of the Disabled was established on August 17, 1988. In 1998 the Society gained a Special Consultative Status in the Social Council of the UN. ARSD goals: protection of rights and interests of the disabled; guaranteeing the disabled equal with other citizens’ opportunities to participate in the life of the society; integration of the disabled in the society. Major activities: taking part in developing legislative regulations of disablement issues, and implementing and monitoring disablement laws; information activity and keeping the society aware of the problems of the disabled; social work with the disabled; rehabilitation by cultural, sports and tourist means; entrepreneurial activity aimed at implementing ARSD’s social programs and reinforcing the Society; international activity. ARSD is a Member of the Disabled People International Association and cooperates with other international organizations of the disabled as well as national organizations of the disabled of England, Hungary, Germany, China, Norway, Poland, the USA, France, Finland, Czechia and most of the republics of the CIS.
