Project goals

The major aim of the Project is to consolidate useful outcomes from previous projects and programmes in the health sector and replicate successful components of these in selected pilot regions of Arkhangelsk, Kaliningrad and Murmansk.

Results

In a first step, the Project is reviewing a limited sample of completed projects and programmes, conducted in cooperation with various international donor organisations.


The findings will be consolidated into a comprehensive and systematised database system. This database will be widely accessible through the internet and enable the federal and regional healthcare administration, research and educational institutions, international donors and any interested health professional to search results from completed health reform projects and build on already existing know-how.


The priority areas chosen by the regional authorities are all in agreement with the priorities, outlined in the strategic plan for health reform by the MoH. Arkhangelsk focuses on the improvement of disease prevention and health care management. Kaliningrad seeks to introduce GP based primary health care models, strengthen health promotion and disease prevention and improve the health care management system. Murmansk also concentrates on GP based primary health care and prevention of cardiovascular diseases, which are of particular relevance in Northern regions.
