Project goals
Increasing of the effectivness and efficacy of the medical services within the primary health care |
Tasks
1.Updating the education of nurses in patient care, patient management, patient counselling and patient copmpliance;
2.Improving of reproductive health, in special reduction of mother and infant mortality;
3.Decreasing the AIDS incidence rate;
4.Decreasing the hospitalisation rate of parient with Diabetes Mellitus and copmlication rate; decreasing the number of drug user and preventing the family violence;
5.Developing of electronic communication network for distance learing and for information exchange between the counterparts. |
Activities
By the end of 2001 the partnerships reported that a Community Youth Health Education Center was opened in Pereyaslavka, Khabarovskiy Kray; two primary health care centers were established (Volgograd and Shchuche); preventive evidence-based programs were developed and launched for asthma, arterial hypertension, diabetes, STDs prevention and dental health.
A partnership between the St. Petersburg Medical Academy and Boston INQUAL program conducted a series of workshops on prevention of infection in hospitals and the use of modern evidence-based approaches in epidemiology.

Results
In 2000-2001 a Continuing Evaluation Panel evaluated the AIHA Partnerships Program in NIS and CEE, with positive findings. |

Additional information |
The network of new partnership at local level has been created in 1999-2000г:
1) Khabarovsk territory (Perejaslavka) – Lexington, Kentucky;
2) Barrow / Pike – Epplton/Viskonsin;
3) Sakhalin (Korsakov) – Houston, Texas;
4) Nizhni Novgorod (Sarov) – Los Alamos, Nju Meksiko;
5) Samara – De Muan, Iowa; Tomsk – Bemidzhi, Minnesota;
6) Snezhinsk – Livermor, California (the last was financed together with power Department).
In 2001 АМСЗ has begun assistance to the program of partnership Volgograd – Littl Fate, Arkansas. Each program of partnership has developed the program of perfection of the primary mediko-social help to families, women and teenagers.
In 2000г. Eleven programs of partnership have finished actions for maintenance of viability of results of the programs realised under the contract with АМСЗ earlier (1992-1998).
Realisation of counter initiatives, namely "Information technology" (28 resource centres of training), «Training in the field of emergency medical aid» (two educational centres), "Nursing care", «Health of women» (four centres of female health), «Resuscitation of newborns» (five educational centres) is continued. Adaptation and use of a clinical management on demonstrative medicine in system of the primary mediko-social help was the new joint initiative. A number of initiatives and further are financed by Regional bureau.
