PREVENTION AND CONTROL OF COMMUNICABLE DISEASES BY HIGH QUALITY PRIMARY HEALTH CARE IN THE REPUBLIC OF KARELIA, KONDOPOGA DISTRICT AS A PILOT AREA
The implementation of this project will be carried out within the framework of the Umbrella Structure of the Karelian Health Reform Process ( supported by the Karelian- Finnish Programme - " Development of social- and health care in the Republic of Karelia in transition" ), thus being integrated in the current development and achievements of the social and health care reform in the Republic and co- ordinated with other international projects by the supervisory board of the "Umbrella". The overal objective of the pilot project is decreased morbidity in communicable diseases by improving the contribution and quality of the primary health care in prevention and control of infectious diseases in the Republic of Karelia. The purpose of this particular project is the development of a appropriate and tested model of best practicies for prevention and control of communicable diseases by quality primary health care in 5 ambulatories (Janishpole, Girvas, Zaozere, Porosozero, Kvartsitnyi) as a pilot areas and Janispole ambulatory in Kondopoga district as a demonstration and training unit. The expected results will be 1) improved health promotion and primary prevention practicies 2) good quality primary health care services accessible to population by training of staff and by improving the infrastructure of the services, particularly furnishing the rural ambulatories with essential equipments 3) improved monitoring and health information system, 4) better administrative preconditions by improving collaboration and co-operation, 5) trained trainers and developed training modules, learning material and guidelines on prevention and control of CDs and on comprehensive and client oriented approach in the primary care. |
