Project goals
To assist disabled people with mobility aid devices and various items according to their needs; to strengthen health and social services supporting disabled persons in Chechnya; to refer amputees to relevant orthopaedic workshops to fit them with prostheses; to promote the social integration of people with disability in Chechnya.
HI implements the following activities:
A. Direct support to PWD/I:
Distribution of wheelchairs and walking aid devices to regain a certain level of mobility and autonomy; Referral of amputees in relevant orthopaedic workshops for fitting with prosthesis.
B.Strengthen local capacities in medico-social care and disabled persons in Chechnya.
Setting up and support of rehabilitation services by donation of appropriate equipment and training; Support to special institutions taking care of PWD; Provision of intensive internship training outside Chechnya in rehabilitation of PWD; Provision of training seminars for staff from government social services and local associations in working with people with people with injures and disabilities
C.Publication and dissemination of materials related to PWD/I.
To facilitate communication between health and rehabilitation professionals throughout the region; To assist disabled people to look after their health care and rehabilitation needs; To communicate a positive images of PWD and promote their autonomy and dignity. |
