n/a Social package loses weight



The minister of health and social development will explain deputies of the Duma about realization of the law on benefits and further plans of the government.


The cost of the social package will be indexed by 6% in the next year. This is two times lower than the expected inflation rate. In 2007, it is planned to give money for trip on suburban trains.

n/a Zurabov visited blood transfusion centre.



On November, 6, the minister of health and social development has visited Blood transfusion Center of the Federal medical and biological agency. He has checked readiness of the center to work in different cases.


Zurabov has been interested in the working system of the Centre, way of finding and examination of the blood-donors, as well as infectious security, quality management and optimization of blood reserves.


It is planned to hold a meeting in the Ministry of Health and Social Development in the nearest future.

n/a Russia has accounted doctors.



By the 1st of November, all corresponding Ministries had to work out all the process of wages increase. The Ministry of Health has finally accounted all doctors. The Ministry of Finance stated that there is RUB 58 bln planned for wages increase in 2006 budget. The money will be spent not only on wages increase but also on equipping of polyclinics, constructing medical centers and dispanserization (that is all doctors commission to check public health every year). It is said that this sum is more than enough.

n/a AFEW writes open letter to Russian President Vladimir Putin

AFEW has written an open letter appealing to Russian President Vladimir Putin to pay more attention to HIV/AIDS and make it a political priority. The letter coincides with his visit to the Netherlands on 1–2 November. The letter states, ‘Russia is on the verge of a social, economic and humanitarian catastrophe’ and ‘international experience shows that personal effort and participation by the most influential government leaders is a crucial factor for success in fighting the epidemic.’ The Russian president is in a position to help raise awareness among the Russian population, to motivate people to take responsibility for protecting themselves and to address the stigma and discrimination faced by people living with HIV/AIDS. A separate letter was sent to the Dutch Minister of Foreign Affairs requesting that the issue of HIV/AIDS in Russia be placed on the agenda for a meeting between the Dutch Prime Minister and President Putin.

n/a Free treatment is the only one thing that more important than life for Russians.



According to the latest statistics, the major of the Russians prefer free medical service and provision in the old ages. This means that the right for living is on the second positon in the list.


There is a 12% increase in the number of those people who prefer free medical and social services. The president of the Institution of strategic assessments consider this situation is due to low level of life of the Russians, many of whom find it difficult to make both ends meet.
