n/a Change social package on rubles.



More and more privileged people relinquish of free medicines for money compensation.


Till the 1st of October, 2005, privileged people have the right to choose whether to receive free medicines or money compensation. Money compensation will amount R450 (that is about $15) per month. According to Pension fund data, almost 20% has relinquished from their right for free medicines by the 10th of August. The index showed a 5% increase in 10 days (starting from the 1st of August).

n/a Cost of some medical services differs in 14 times in Moscow.



The most common services of the medical centers are blood test, consultation of physician and ultrasonic scanning. Such services are common in 90% of the medical centers in Moscow.

The price of blood test depends on testing parameters and type of instrumentations. Price can fluctuate from R100 to R2, 800 per test. The most frequent price of blood test is R300.

The consultations of physicians are used as a marketing method to advance expensive services of the center. Maximum price of the consultation is about R4, 000 (about $140).

Emergency for foreigners is free, but planned treatment must be paid.


Mihail Fradkov has signed a resolution on the regulations of rendering medical assistance to foreign citizens. Emergency will be free to any foreigners, but if there is a necessity for further treatment, this treatment must be paid in advance.

The President plans to provide financial support for municipal health service, otherwise there will not be any possibility for innovations.

He mentioned that the most considerable assistance needs to be rendered to emergency, preventive measures, vaccination and medical commissions.

n/a Russian pharmaceutical market is one of some who has somewhere to develop to.



An analytical company RMBC (Remedium) stated that the volume of pharmacies and hospitals sales was about $3 bln in the first half of 2005. If we also take into account all state purchases the volume will be about $3.5 bln for 6 months. It means that Russian pharmaceutical market showed a 30% increase.


An average retail markup grew from 28% to 30%. This was due to the development of the pharmacies in Russia.


Coming of the foreign pharmaceutical companies to Russia has become the most reasonable index for the growth. Foreign investors show high interest for Russian pharmaceutical market because there are a lot of opportunities for them.
