23/08/2005 Medicine is in plus



List of privileged medicines is expanded once more.



The list of free medicines for the privileged people was enriched by 14 more medicines. The previous changes were maid in June this year. By now, the list contains 457 international non-patent trade names of 2, 100 brand names.


Last 14 names are the medicines to cure of disease in oncology, cardiology, pulmonology and infections.

The law comes into force in 10 days.

18/08/2005 Muscovites can complain against doctors by phone.



There is a special telephone number – (095) 251-14-55 – for Muscovites to complain against doctor work. The telephone number will be advertised in hospitals. Those doctors who are caught in blackmailing will be dismissed and presented to law machinery.

In case of careless attitude to patients or blackmailing you should call (095) 251-14-55 from 8 a.m. till 8 p.m.

17/08/2005 Pediatrician is sought out



In five years time there will doubtfully be any pediatricians in Habarovsk.



In 2004, 70% of Habarovsk children had deviant health. Provisional data shows a 12 to 15% increase in sickness rate.
Young doctor after graduating university earns only 2 to 3 thousand rubles (that is about $100).
Moreover, having realized all responsibility and difficulties of the work he usually starts searching for another job.
Interestingly, birth rate increases rapidly in Habarovsk, but young mothers have a lot of problems with their health. Doctors are pleased to realize that abortion rate reduces every year.

As a result, the special program named as “Healthy maternity and childhood” was approved in Habarovsk for 2005-2007. The aim of the program is to stabilize figures of women, children and adults health.

17/08/2005 Karelia approves order of free medicines for HIV-infected people.



The head of the Republic, Sergei Katanandov, has signed the resolution. In fact, the resolution was approved due to the changes in the Federal law.


Free medicines will be provided for HIV infected people and for those who need precautions. Furthermore, free medicines are available for tuberculosis patients. They will be supplied with free medicines in the health institutions.

Russian men are under threat



The average life interval of the Russian males is 59 years; it is the lowest figures all over the world. Russian females live 72 years in average; it is less than in European countries but more than in the middle-east countries. The main threat for Russian men is untimely death. The figure on the index is 2 or 4 times higher than in the European countries. The reason of the untimely death is diseases in circulation of the blood and fatal accidents. Furthermore, the Russian give birth less than in Europe. In conclusion, Russian population fall 0.2% for the last 6 months.
